And Another One … Former Female Title Challenger Retires From The UFC

UFC boss Dana White.

Former UFC title challenger Valerie Letourneau is no longer in the UFC.

On Thursday, Letourneau posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram announcing her departure from the UFC.

“Thank you UFC it’s been an awesome experience and many dreams come true,” Letourneau wrote. “Time for me to look at what’s next inside and outside the cage.”

Letourneau is exiting the UFC on a three-fight losing streak. She is coming off a split-decision loss to Viviane Pereira in December. In June, she lost to strawweight contender Joanne Calderwood by TKO. In Nov. 2015, she lost a decision to UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Letourneau leaves the UFC with a 3-3 record in the promotion. She started her UFC tenure going on a three-fight win streak that earned her a shot at the UFC title. Letourneau has UFC wins over Elizabeth Phillips, Jessica Rakoczy, and Maryna Moroz.

Letourneau says her departure from the UFC is what is best for her health and future. However, she does say there is a possibility for her fighting again.

“This is best for my health and future. I am good, I am happy, I still love my sport and I still gonna fight if my fans, sponsors and promotion have my back,” Letourneau said.  “And if not! I’m still gonna be fine!”
