REPLAY! Freire Picks Up The 2nd Round KO Win Over Thomson

On Saturday, at Bellator 172, Patricky “Pitbull” Freire picked up the biggest win of his MMA career when he knocked out Josh Thomson in the main event.

However, this major win doesn’t come without any controversy. Before “Pitbull” landed an uppercut to end Thomson’s night, both fighters accidently headbutted each other. The headbutt resulted in Thomson getting knocked down. When Thomson quickly got back to his feet, it didn’t take long for Freire to finish the fight.

Regardless, this is a major statement for “Pitbull” in the Bellator lightweight division. In his last fight, Freire was knocked out by Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler. With a win over Thomson, Freire is right back into title contention.

Bellator 172 took place Saturday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The event was originally scheduled to be headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Matt Mitrione. However, a kidney stone forced Mitrione to withdraw from the fight Saturday afternoon.
