Tony Ferguson Once Kicked Conor McGregor Out Of His Gym

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson have made it clear they don’t like each other. They have been trading barbs for the last 18 months including recently when McGregor did an online pay-per-view interview with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

“They’re (Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov) sloppy, messy, chinny. It’s not pretty to look at, and it’s the same with these two clowns. Two bums fighting for an interim belt. They should be very happy that I’m chilling now, taking a break, and they have this little chance to think that they’re up there. But in reality, they’re nowhere close. They both would be knocked out stiff. Both chinny, both wild, too sloppy.”

But, there was a time where McGregor trained at Ferguson’s gym at the time,  Box ‘N Burn gym in California. In May of 2016, the biggest star in the UFC posted a photo of himself at the gym as he was sparring with boxing champion Chris van Heerden.

The interim lightweight title challenger at UFC 209 didn’t take too kindly to McGregor being at his gym.

Ferguson will battle Khabib Nurmagomedov for the interim 155-pound title at UFC 209 on March 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. McGregor plans on taking the majority of 2017 off due to him and his girlfriend Dee Devlin having their first child in May and is focused on trying to make a fight between boxing great Floyd Mayweather.

Ferguson’s won nine consecutive fights. If “El Cucuy” gets by Nurmagomedov, a showdown against McGregor seems inevitable.
