Tony Ferguson Planning To Outwrestle Khabib Nurmagomedov

After injuries and cancellations caused some changed to UFC 216, here is the updated fight card for October 7th.

The fate of the newly created UFC Interim Lightweight Championship will be decided in the co-main event of “UFC 209” when Tony Ferguson finally meets Khabib Nurmagomedov in the center of the octagon. Wrestling sensation Nurmagomedov may boast an undefeated record, but Ferguson is not letting what he believes to be a “padded record” stop him from shooting for a takedown.

Ferguson took to the phone during Thursday’s “UFC 209 Media Call” and dressed down Nurmagomedov, claiming he would outclass and outwrestle the Russian. He said:

“I’ve got respect for where he came from, but my wrestling is far superior and my style is just completely different than his. My freestyle background — I’m going to run circles around this guy.”

“I’m going to throw you, from your head to your toes. I’ll flip you upside down and everyone is going to see it. Nobody will be able to save your ass this time.”
