Yair Rodriguez Admits He Took All of Penn’s American Fans With Recent Dominance

Currently undefeated in the UFC, number seven ranked featherweight Yair Rodriguez believes he is starting to cultivate a true following in the sport. He thinks his recent win over B.J. Penn played no small part in it.

In an interview with MMA Fighting, “Pantera” Rodriguez explained how things have changed for him after his win over the former lightweight and welterweight champion.

“To be honest, before B.J…. of course people recognized me, but not as much as this time. Now I can see, in the other states, allot of people are asking me now for pictures, autographs and other stuff. Where before it was just in Mexico and Latin America, the Hispanic people. Now it’s like everywhere, you know?” Rodriguez continued. “I think allot of people knew him and allot of people were watching the fight that night, so that just put me right there.”

Rodriguez is riding an eight-fight win streak, with his most recent victory being a second round TKO of B.J. Penn at UFC Fight Night 103 in January.
