Buffer Announces He’s Considering Retirement

Back in May of last year, fight calling veteran Michael Buffer admitted that he is getting close to his retirement. He may even sell his famous catchphrase.

Back in 1992, Buffer snagged a trademark for the famous phrase “let’s get ready to rumble.” Now, the seasoned announcer is considering selling it for his retirement.

As reported by TMZ Sports, Buffer revealed that “it’ only a maybe.” He is considering selling the catchphrase, but has not come to a decision yet. As far as retirement is concerned, the ring announcer admitted that he was nearing his end.

When asked if he would pass the phrase off to his son, Buffer responded “If I don’t sell it, I may pas it down to somebody. I’m going to retire soon.”

Buffer has been announcing fights since 1982. His half-brother, Bruce Buffer, is a fight calling veteran in his own rite. Bruce Buffer is a seasoned ring announcer for the UFC.
