Khabib’s Camp Breaks Their Silence, Releases Statement Following Missed Weight Fight Cancellation

We woke up today with a mess of news to cover.

It’s weigh-ins day, and these days are usually hit or miss. More often than not it’s the undercard fighters who botch their cut. But, today we were met with a different issue.

The UFC 209 co-main event between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov has been officially cancelled following Khabib’s inability to make the weight, or even make the scales.

As a result, the co-main is off and the lightweight title picture has never been so blurry.

Speaking on behalf of Team Khabib comes the Russian’s manager, Ali Abdel-Aziz, who told MMAFighting,

“I feel bad for Tony and his camp, I really do.

“The most important thing right now is Khabib’s health. He’s currently resting in his room. We’re not thinking about what’s next at this time.

“I want to sincerely apologize to Tony, his team, the UFC and the fans. We were all looking forward to this fight very much.”
