Nate Diaz Targets McGregor’s Claim At G.O.A.T. Status… And He Makes A Valid Point

UFC Lightweight Champion and former featherweight champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor has been looked to as the greatest of all time by some. The notion has been swirling around ever since the champion snagged two division belts within the UFC.

McGregor’s current stride for a potential cross-promotional bout with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has kept “Notorious” on everyone’s tongues for he past months. That being said, not everyone agrees that McGregor is G.O.A.T worthy. UFC lightweight Nate Diaz seems to think that the G.O.A.T title is unfitting of the champion.

Diaz defeated McGregor last year at UFC 196 via second round rear-naked choke, before losing to the champion in the UFC 202 rematch via majority decision.

In an interview with MMA Alpha, Diaz explained that he doesn’t believe that “Notorious” has much of a shot in the potential fight against Mayweather nor maintaining the G.O.A.T title.

“I think it is a big publicity stunt. My take on a boxing match between the two–I think McGregor’s got a chance to make something happen in two or three rounds. But, I think he’ got an amateur style.” Diaz said. “I think that’s too amateur for Mayweather. I’m just saying he’s got a punchers chance, if anything.”

When talking about the swirling rumors of McGregor being one of the greatest of all time, Diaz said

“Me and my brother, they don’t want to let either one of us in there. Congratulations to Conor. He did a great job, got the two belts. My and him know what happened the last couple fights. That greatest of all time stuff, that means he’s just coming to an end. I don’t remember any of the greatest of all time getting worked over like the last two fights. So not to sit here and bash, but that’s what I felt like the whole situation.”
