Nevada Commission Admits To Making An Error With Woodley-Thompson Scoring

UFC President, Dana White.

Last weekend’s UFC 209 left fans torn and confused, as the promotion held yet another contentious main event. UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley succesfully defended his title from Stephen “Wonderboy” Thomspon via majority decision. With their UFC 205 fight having also gone the distance, having reached a majority draw, many fans were semmingly disatisfied with the UFC 209 main event.

Well, gas meet fire. Nevada State Athletic Commission Chief Bob Bennett doesn’t seem to think that the UFC 209 main event final decision was quite right either.

Bennett appeared at the UFC 209 post-fight press conference. The chief explained that he found one of the calls to be a little off. Grant it, the call would not have made a difference on a majority decision.

“The one judge that had it 10-8 – we went over it in the debriefing, and that 10-8 was unacceptable. Not that it would have affected the outcome of the fight, but just to share it with you, we certainly strive to do the best we can – we don’t always succeed – and that judge should have scored that round 10-9.”
