Girl Fight! Waterson Puts GDR On Absolute Blast — Ouch!

UFC 208 featured the inaugural UFC female featherweight championship. In the main event championship fight, Germaine de Randamie faced former bantamweight champion Holly Holm. “The Iron Lady” scored a unanimous decision victory, but cultivated some controversy when she landed multiple late blows to her opponent during the bout.

Now, Jackson Wink MMA’s Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson is coming to the aid of her teammate and going after Randamie. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Waterson explained that what bothers her about the featherweight champion is the duality of it all.

“If you’re going to be a dirty fighter, cool, that’s you’re style, whatever. But don’t come out and try to touch gloves with me at the beginning of every round and then hit me after the bell. Pick your poison. Don’t hit me and then be ‘oh sorry, my bad, we’re friends.’ No. That’s my thing about it.”

As far as teammate Holly Holm is concerned, Waterson says she is in a good place following the loss.

“I can say nothing but great things about Holly. She is someone to look up to. She, no matter what is going on in her life, if she’s passionate about something, she’s going to do it right. Whatever happened in this last fight, she came back to the gym that Monday to train. That’s just the type of champion that I like to look up to.”

Everything considered, Waterson thinks there should be a rematch. “I think there should be a rematch  and I think Holly will win.”
