Title Shot? UFC Flying In “Thug Rose” For Cage Side Seat At Joanna Champion’s Fight

When UFC strawweight “Thug” Rose Namajunas burst onto the UFC scene as a TUF cast member, no one knew what was ahead of us.

Sure, she made it to the finals of the show. And, yea, maybe Dana White did sell her as the next Ronda Rousey. But she wound up losing the show’s finale to Carla Esparza and that instantly derailed her hype train moving forward.

She followed up her TUF final loss with three straight wins. The three fight streak put her back inline for another shot at the strap. But, she was unable to make it four, as she dropped a fight last July to eventual title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Now, on the comeback trail, Rose just picked up a massive win over Michelle Waterson, and apparently that was enough to warrant a new title shot. As, the UFC is planning to have her attend next month’s UFC 211 event, where the champ will attempt to defend her strap.

The UFC’s intentions are clear here, though unspoken. They typically send the next inline to fight night ahead of announcing their title shot, so that they can mic up and film the fighters watching their next opponent.
