Bisping Speaks Out — ‘If holding up the division is good enough for Conor McGregor…

UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping doesn’t agree with the criticism of him holding up the division since UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor did it in two different weight classes.

“Whatever I do, I get s**t off everybody,” Bisping said on his podcast. “Conor McGregor can do no wrong, he is Jesus reincarnated. He can walk on water, he can do whatever the f**k he wants.”

“He can leave the sport of UFC and go chase a boxing match and that’s still the best thing ever, holding up two divisions whilst he’s at it. But me, Jesus Christ, all I tried to do is get a big payday and I’m the scum of the earth, I’m the devil.”

Fans and fighters have been upset with Bisping due to him pursuing a title fight against former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre. With him not fighting since 2013, the return of St-Pierre has the potential to make more money than any other title defense against a top contender in the 185- pound division.

McGregor is also known for not defending his title against top contenders and instead pursuing fights that will make the most money. When McGregor won the featherweight title, he immediately pursued a shot at the UFC lightweight belt. Since winning the lightweight title, McGregor has been pursuing a boxing fight against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
