Despite Retirement, “Rumble” Johnson Hints That He May Return To UFC Action

Following Sunday’s UFC Fight Night, former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Johnson said he’s getting an urge to return to the UFC.

In his home country of Sweden, Alexander Gustafsson picked up a major win when he knocked out Glover Teixeira. For four rounds, Gustafsson dominated Teixeira with brutal uppercuts. At the beginning of the fifth round, Gustafsson landed multiple uppercuts in a row followed by a right hand which finished the former title challenger.

“I’m getting that itch!” Johnson said on Twitter following Gustafsson’s win. “Show these boy’s how to throw an uppercut the Right way!”

Johnson retired from the sport of MMA following his last fight. In April, at UFC 210, Johnson was submitted by UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.

Johnson has knockout wins over many of the top light heavyweight fighters in the UFC. The last time the UFC held a fight night in Sweden, Johnson knocked out Gustafsson.
