Gastelum Punished For Pot, Win Over Belfort Overturned, Receives Suspension

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight competitor Kelvin Gastelum put on a dominant performance at UFC Fight Night 106. The fighter made quick work of mixed martial arts veteran Vitor Belfort.

After Gastelum landed a first round TKO victory over his opponent, the fighter was then set to face another veteran of the sport. This time, Gastelum was set to face former UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva.

However, Gastelum was pulled from the bout, as USADA had flagged the fighter for a potential anti-doping policy violation related to the alleged use of marijuana.

Now, as reported by Combate, Gastelum’s victory over Vitor Belfort is being overturned to a no contest. The fighter will face a three month suspension. Lastly, Kelvin Gastelum will forfeit up to 20% of his fight purse to his opponent.
