UFC 211 Results: Casey Upsets Over Aguilar In Fight Pass Headliner

On Saturday, the UFC hosted one of its biggest events of the year as UFC 211 took place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Two titles are set to be defended in the lone star state as UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic fights former champion Junior dos Santos and UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk fights Jessica Andrade.

Before the titles are defended, UFC 211 features a stacked undercard full of intriguing matches.

The UFC Fight Pass Prelims are headlined by a pivotal fight in the women’s strawweight division as former World Series of Fighting champion Jessica Aguilar fight Cortney Casey.

Neither fighter was intimated by the other at the start of the fight. Aguilar knocked Casey down early with a leg kick. Off of her back, Casey attempted submissions to no avail. Casey got back to her feet and landed a plethora of punches. Casey tried getting Aguilar to the ground but failed. However, Casey eventually got Aguilar in her guard. Not much action took place on the ground, and both fighters got back to their feet. The opening round ended with both fighters landing lethal combinations. However, Casey seemed to land more volume, but Aguilar dropped Casey as the horn sounded.

Casey came out aggressive in the second round, but she was overzealous and got taken to the ground. Casey used up kicks to stop Aguilar from getting the dominant position. The referee eventually let Casey get back to her feet. Aguilar once again managed to get Casey to the ground but she could not maintain a dominant position due to Casey’s up kicks. The round ended with Aguilar fighting from Casey’s half guard.

Casey landed multiple punches and kicks to start the final round. Aguilar fought back, but Casey landed the cleaner strikes. Aguilar was busted open due to Casey’s punches. The round ended with both fighters fighting against the cage.
