Bellator NYC: Giacchina Victorious In NYC, Submits Mickle In Round 3

 

For the second time in history, the sport of mixed martial arts is being contested in the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City.

On Saturday, Bellator MMA hosted one of their most stacked cards in the history of the promotion.

During the Bellator 180 prelims, Jerome Mickle fought Anthony Giacchina in a lightweight fight.

Giacchina landed a massive takedown at the start of the fight. Mickle fought back to his feet but was held against the cage. Mickle got free and began throwing knockout blows. Both fighters then began trading kicks. Mickle then rocked his opponent with a right hand, but Giacchina responded with rocking Mickle. Both fighters continued to throw knockout punches until Giacchina engaged a clinch. The round ended with Giacchina landing another takedown.

Mickle dropped his opponent to start the round, but Giacchina went for an armbar and got back to his feet. Mickle landed a few more devastating strikes before getting taken down. Giacchina gained full mount. Mickle managed to get back to his feet in the final minute of the round. Giacchina then landed another takedown and ended the round on top.

Mickle continued to throw fight-finishing blows to start the final round. Giacchina managed to take Mickle’s back while the two were standing. He then used that position to secure another takedown. Giachinna once again took Mickle’s back and secured a rear-naked choke for the submission win.
