Boxer Explains Why He Betrayed McGregor And Released Footage Of Him Beating Conor Up In Sparring

Former boxing champion Chris van Heerden recently released footage of himself boxing with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

Heerden released the video to show that McGregor doesn’t have the skills necessary to compete in a boxing match against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

On Friday, Heerden talked to ESPN and explained why he released the sparring footage.

“Because people are tweeting and talking and telling me that Mayweather has his hands full landing on Conor McGregor,” Van Heerden said. “I’m a professional fighter — boxer. And I’m standing up for the sport. I was just making it very clear that, don’t be ridiculous. If I could land, don’t tell me Floyd Mayweather is not gonna land.”

Earlier this week, Mayweather and McGregor officially agreed to term to compete against each other in a boxing match. The two will fight at 154 pounds in a 12-round bout. The fight will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
