Fighter Admits To Removing Foot From Weigh-in Scales To Cheat And Make Weight

Bellator fighter Sergio da Silva tried to cheat to make weight on Friday, the New York State Athletic Commission was not putting up with any of this tricks.

The NYSAC was all over Silva when he tried to lift his foot off the scale and do anything in his power to weigh-in less than what he actually did.

Silva was scheduled to compete in a 130-pound catchweight fight but came in more than seven pounds overweight. His opponent, Matt Rizzo, also weighed in over the limit. He came in at 133 pounds.

With the fight being at a catchweight, neither fighters are facing any penalties for missing weight. The fight will take place during the prelims for Bellator 180.

In April, the NYSAC received a lot of criticism after allowing UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier to hold onto the towel while weighing in.

Since that incident, the NYSAC made rules making sure no fighters were able to touch anything except the scale while being weighed.

In the video below, you can watch Silva attempt to cheat while weighing in.

Bellator 180 and Bellator: NYC take place June 24 at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
