Fighter Says Referee Was Biased in UFC 212 Late Stoppage

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight Matthew Lopez earned an impressive victory in Saturday night’s UFC 212 event. The fighter scored a first round TKO victory over mixed martial arts veteran Johnny Eduardo. However, Lopez believes the fight could have been stopped sooner than it was.

In an interview with MMA Fighting, Matthew Lopez explained that he believes his opponent took upwards of 20 additional strikes before referee Mario Yamasaki put an end to the contest.

“I think Yamasaki might have been a little bit biased.” Lopez said.
