Herrig Believes The UFC Won’t Get Behind Her, Due To Her Looks

UFC strawweight Felice Herrig is riding a recent unanimous decision victory over Justine Kish at UFC Fight Night 112. Following the win, Herrig took a moment to speak on her position in the mixed martial arts promotion. However, Herrig believes the UFC is not promoting her as they should.

In a media scrum following her win at UFC Fight Night 112, as transcribed by MMA Fighting, Herrig said “I think that I had one bad performance, and because I’m a veteran in this sport you can’t look at me as this new up-and-comer that they can be like, ‘This girl is going to be the next big thing,’

“I already solidified myself in this sport, I’ve already been in it for 15 years, I’ve fought some of the best and fought completely out of my weight class in so many fights.

“Honestly, if you want to know the truth, I just feel like I’m not young and beautiful for the UFC to want to promote me. And it’s sad because I’ve really worked hard to be here and it’s hard to see, you know, these people who haven’t been through what I’ve been through and just got to the UFC at the right time, and they’re getting all these opportunities. I’ve seen how hard I’ve worked to get here and it just doesn’t matter because I’m not pretty enough and I’m not getting any younger, so I don’t know.”
