New Rules: California Holds Weigh-Ins One Month Early For UFC 214

The California State Athletic Commission has already begun enforcing their new rules when it comes to weight cutting in the UFC.

The CSAC is now monitoring how much weight a fighter cuts prior to competing.

One month before UFC 214 takes place in Anaheim, Calfornia, the CSAC made all the fighters fighting for titles weigh-in via FaceTime.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones, UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, and Tonya Evinger were all forced to weigh-in.

“We are so pleased with the cooperation from the camps and the fighters,” Andy Foster, CSAC executive office, told MMA Fighting. “This was not some kind of small undertaking and everyone was very helpful in getting it done.”

The commission appears to be happy with all of the fighters who weighed in, but the commission will continue to monitor the fighters over the next few weeks.

UFC 214 will take place July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
