Rashad Evans Set To Compete In Mexico

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans is set to compete in Mexico City for a UFC Fight Night event on Aug. 5.

Evans will once again fight in the 185-pound division as he fights middleweight prospect “Smile’n” Sam Alvey.

Evans is coming off a disappointing middleweight debut. In March, Evans lost a split decision to Daniel Kelly.

Prior to his middleweight debut, Evans was on a two-fight losing streak as a light heavyweight. He lost a decision to Ryan Bader and was knocked out by Glover Teixeira.

Evans illustrious UFC career includes notable wins over Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Tito Ortiz, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Michael Bisping, Phil Davis, Dan Henderson, and Chael Sonnen.

Alvey is coming off a decision loss to former title challenger Thales Leites in April. Before the loss, Alvey was on a four-fight win streak that culminated with a win over Nate Marquardt.

This UFC Fight Night event will be headlined by a pivotal flyweight bout between Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno.
