Texas Commission Folds to the UFC’s Demands

The state of Texas has cleared UFC strawweight Cortney Casey of any wrongdoing.

The Texas athletic commission had originally suspended Casey after failing their drug test for her fight last month at UFC 211.

In Dallas, Casey picked up the biggest win of her MMA career when she earned a decision victory of Jessica Aguilar. After failing her drug test, the state commission overturned her win into a no-contest.

Casey had not failed any drug test given to her the U.S Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the official anti-doping partner of the UFC.

Both the UFC and USADA claimed Casey had done nothing wrong and that the state should overturn their original ruling.

On Friday, the state of Texas listened to the UFC and cleared Casey of any suspension. The state also gave Casey her win back against Aguilar.

The state sent Casey a letter letting her know she had been cleared of doing anything wrong.

“After reexamination of the documents in our possession and careful examination of the Sample B results, your 90-day suspension is lifted effective June 29, 2017, the enforcement case dropped with no further action taken, and the bout “win” reinstated on your record.”
