“If I don’t win this wasn’t a real rivalry’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier suffered a unanimous decision loss to heated rival Jon “Bones” Jones back in 2015. However, the champion is facing off against “Bones” again in tonight’s main event.

UFC 214 goes down tonight, July 29, in Anaheim, Calif. with Cormier and Jones facing off in the night’s main event.

In a recent conference call, Daniel Cormier explained that he needs to get a victory tonight in order to solidify his rivalry with Jon Jones.

As transcribed by MMA Fighting, Cormier stated “This rivalry is a rivalry when I win the fight this weekend. If you don’t win the fight, it’s no rivalry. It’s just two guys that were fighting on more than one occasion. It’s a rivalry when I win this weekend.”
