D.C.: ‘I don’t have the time to ever fight Jon Jones again’

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier doesn’t think he’ll ever fight Jon Jones again.

During an interview on The MMA Hour, Cormier said he’d be willing to fight Jones again, but he doesn’t think there will be enough time before he retires.

“The sad thing is, man, I would actually fight him again,” Cormier said. “I just don’t know that there will be time. Because at the end of this process, if there is a suspension, I will have run out of time, because I’ve always said that I won’t be fighting at 40, and I’ve done so much better than I ever could’ve envisioned when I started this career.”

At age 38, Cormier only plans on competing inside the Octagon for less than two years.

With Jones failing his second USADA drug test, there is a possibility that he will be suspended for four years.

Last week, it was revealed Jones failed an in-competition drug test from a sample taken from him the day before he fought Cormier at UFC 214. Jones went on to knock out Cormier and regained his UFC title.
