Mayweather Sr. Doesn’t Sound Confident His Son Can Win, Says He Likely Won’t Corner Him Either

Floyd Mayweather Sr. doesn’t know whether or not he will be in his son’s corner on Saturday night.

On Aug. 26, Floyd “Money” Mayweather will fight UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match in Las Vegas.

On Friday, Mayweather Sr. appeared on The MMA Hour and said he didn’t know if he’d be in his son’s corner.

“We will see. Because I feel like I should be in the corner, as well. What went on is I happened to be away from the gym when everything started. Nobody let me know anything,” Mayweather Sr. said.

“I should be the first (cornerman), but I don’t know. I’m just gonna see. I’m just gonna be honest with you, man. I don’t know what’s going on. First, when I was gone, I had went back to Michigan, I think it was, to check on my mother and stuff. And then just to me that, I came back, all them guys been with him. We’re gonna see. I’m just gonna see.”

Mayweather Sr. went on to say he will not know for sure if he’ll be in his son’s corner until Saturday.
