UFC star Paige VanZant will officially move up to the flyweight division at UFC 216.
The UFC has officially announced that VanZant will be fighting Jessica Eye at UFC 216 on Oct. 7 in Las Vegas.
VanZant will be moving up from 115 to 125 pounds in order to compete in the UFC’s new women’s flyweight division.
As a strawweight, VanZant was one of the top contenders in the UFC. She picked up notable wins against Felice Herrig and Bec Rawlings. She also had experience fighting Rose Namajunas and Michelle Waterson.
Eye will be moving down to 125 pounds. Prior to joining the UFC, Eye was considered to be one of the best in the flyweight division. As a bantamweight, Eye is currently on a four-fight losing streak with losses against Miesha Tate, Julianna Pena, Sara McMann, and Bethe Correia.
UFC 216 will be headlined by an interim lightweight title fight featuring Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee.
