“There are probably women I wouldn’t have been able to do 12 rounds with”

Former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi has given more information about his sparring sessions with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

Malignaggi briefly trained with McGregor to help him prepare for his professional boxing debut against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

After their second sparring session, footage was released of McGregor knocking Malignaggi to the ground.

Recently, Malignaggi did an interview on FOX Sports 1 and gave information on why McGregor wasn’t that impressive during their sparring session. According to Malignaggi, the footage of McGregor knocking him to the ground took place in the 12th round.

“I wasn’t in 12 round shape. I honestly thought I was going into camp to do four to six rounds at a time, which is usually what sparring partners do,” Malignaggi said.

“I’m in four to six round shape, not 12 round shape. The fact that I could do 12 rounds doesn’t that tell you a little bit more? There are probably women I wouldn’t have able to do 12 rounds with.”
