UFC Results: Bantamweights Go To War In Mexico City

On Saturday, the UFC hosted their 12th show in 13 weeks. Before they take the rest of the month off, the UFC hosted an exciting Fight Night event in Mexico City.

The FOX Sports 1 prelims opened with a bantamweight contest between Jose Quinonez and Diego Rivas.

Both fighters threw kicks to start out the fight. In the beginning of the fight, both Quinonez and Rivas traded strikes. Quinonez tried to get the fight to the ground, but Rivas fought to stay on his feet. Rivas fought his way free and the fighters once again traded strikes. Quinonez appeared to land more strikes throughout the first round.

Quinonez started the second round landing combinations. Rivas responded with leg kicks of his own. As the round went on, Rivas got more aggressive. Quinonez later in the round landed a takedown. Both fighters threatened with submissions on the ground to finish the round.

Both fighters traded punches to start out the final round. Quinonez was the more active striker to start off the round. Rivas struggled to land on his opponent. The fighters fought their way to the ground. Quinonez managed to take top position. Rivas reversed the position and went for a choke, but Quinonez got to his feet. In the final minute, both bantamweights traded kicks and punches.
