Despite getting knocked out by Jon Jones last month in the UFC 214 main event, Daniel Cormier returned to being champion today, thanks to a call from Dana White.
Earlier today the California State Athletic Commission announced that Jon Jones’ win over Cormier was overturned, making the bout a no-contest.
Cormier took to Fox Sports 1 today, and revealed that Dana White called him and gave him his world title back.
“Dana White called me today,” stated Cormier. “And he said if it’s a no contest, then the fight did’t happen.”
Cormier said Dana continued with, “The championship is getting returned to you. The fight is a no contest. If he cheated, then he didn’t win. He cheated.”
Ladies and gentleman, Cormier is the champ again.
