Manny Pacquiao Drops Out of Highly Anticipated Rematch

Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will no longer fight later this year.

Back in July, Pacquiao lost a controversial decision to Jeff Horn in Australia. Following the upset loss, there were reports that Pacquiao would fight Horn in a rematch in November. However, that fight will no longer be taking place anytime this year. Pacquiao’s responsibilities as a senator will prevent him from competing.

“Manny Pacquiao has decided that he will not be competing in a rematch with Jeff Horn in 2017,” Dean Lonergan, Horn’s promoter, told the Daily Telegraph in Australia.

“On behalf of the Philippines government, he will be part of a delegation that will visit China in the middle of his proposed preparation period for the fight.”

Lonergan went on to say that Horn expects to fight sometime this year and they are looking for an opponent. He also said there is a possibility of Horn fighting Pacquiao in a rematch sometime in 2018.
