Oscar De La Hoya Breaks Down His Latest Twitter Beef With Dana White

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya recently broke down his recent Twitter beef with UFC President Dana White.

Last week, De La Hoya sent out a tweet talking negatively about last weekend’s boxing match featuring the professional boxing debut of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor. De La Hoya believed both McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather were disrespecting the sport of boxing.

“Just trying to defend my sport,” De La Hoya said on The MMA Hour. “My sport gave me everything I have. My sport allowed me to win an Olympic gold medal, to win 10 world titles in six different weight classes. I’ve been boxing since I was 4 years old. I was a little fed up by what was taking place. Obviously emotions run through my veins and I was just defending the sport that I dearly love.”

De La Hoya then talked about White’s response to his tweet. White responded to De La Hoya talking negatively about Mayweather vs. McGregor by asking if he was drinking or snorting cocaine.

“I just brush it off,” De La Hoya said. “I never attacked him personally, whatsoever. I was obviously very disappointed by his words. But it is what it is. I’m gonna continue defending the sport of boxing, I’m gonna continue respecting the MMA. And move on to Sept. 16.”

De La Hoya is promoting the upcoming boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin that will take place Sept. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
