Pay-Per-View Buys Up To 4.6 Million For MayMac, And Numbers Still Coming In

The record for the most pay-per-views sold for an event may have been broken by last month’s boxing match between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

Dave Meltzer, of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, has reported that Mayweather vs. McGregor has sold about 4.6 million pay-per-views in North America.

With 4.6 million buys, Mayweather vs. McGregor is on par with the number of pay-per-views sold for the fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. However, if Mayweather vs. McGregor has the same amount of growth as the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight did, their official number of pay-per-views sold could be 4.8 million, which would break the record.

Meltzer also reported that the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight generated between $615 and $620 million when you combine all the different ways the fight could have been watched.

McGregor impressed a lot of people with his performance against Mayweather. Throughout the fight, McGregor had shining moments and proved he belonged in the same ring as Mayweather. But in the end, Mayweather earned a TKO win in round 10.
