Following Today’s Finish, Team “Bigfoot” Lobbies For Rematch With Glory’s Rico Verhoeven

Mixed martial arts veteran Antonio Silva has put on a storied career as a veteran of the sport. Inside the octagon, “Bigfoot” has taken on some of the best. That being said, things have not been going the heavyweight’s way as of later. Starting with a TKO loss to Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt back in 2015, “Bigfoot” is now on a five fight losing streak in his MMA career.

Changing things up, Silva recently decided to try his hand at kickboxing. The former UFC heavyweight faced off against Glory heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven at today’s Glory 46 in China. Things did not go Silva’s way, as the fighter suffered a second round TKO loss.

Offering a statement to MMA Fighting, manager Alex Davis admitted that Silva is looking for a rematch with the Glory champion under a different rule set.

“So Antonio went out there and did his first kickboxing fight against the current Glory champ and legend Rico Verhoeven. And not even himself expected to win, but he fought like a lion! Nothing to be ashamed of! And nor was it the manslaughter everyone predicted. So now, Antonio thinks that it is Verhoeven’s turn to fight in MMA, and since he took the first challenge, now respectfully invites Rico to do the same in MMA. Bigfoot would be more then happy to welcome him!”

His Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach, UFC veteran Roan “Jucao” Carneiro, also thinks the two should have a rematch in MMA.

“What a experience here in China and @glorykickboxing @bigfootsilva went out there and did his 1st kickboxing fight against the current Glory champ and legend Ricco Verhoeven if I said we expected to beat Rico I would be arrogant but one thing I was sure we came here to fight and Big Foot did it. Nothing to be ashamed of and not was it the manslaughter everyone predicted! So now what about Rico Verhoevens turn to debut in MMA and since Big Foot took the first challenge, now respectfully invites Ricco to do the same in MMA. Bigfoot would be more then happy to welcome him!”
