Industry Insider Says UFC Is In Trouble: ‘Can’t sell 100k PPV’s, Can’t Renew FOX Deal Due To Low Numbers’

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has not had the greatest year. With UFC superstar Conor McGregor now coming off of his career high payday fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the boxing world and former bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey not showing any signs of making an octagon return, the mixed martial arts promotion has been hurting for more superstars.

In a recent interview with NY Fights, Top Rank founder Bob Arum offered a blistering take on the financial standing of the UFC. Arum explained that the promotion may be having difficulties securing a renewal deal with FOX due to low pay-per-view sales. Here is what Arum had to say:

“My thoughts are that UFC is desperate. Their numbers are way off, they have no marquee star. Look at their PPV numbers. They barely break 100,000 homes on their shows. They’re having trouble getting renewal on their contract with FOX. They have to do something. One of things they may try and fall back on and try and acquire a boxing presence. About a year ago, I was approached by someone repping UFC, they wanted to buy Top Rank.”
