Nik Lentz Can’t Make Weight, Pulls Out Of Tomorrow’s UFC 216 Event

UFC lightweight contender Nik Lentz failed to make weight for his scheduled fight against former Bellator champ Will Brooks.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has suffered a hit to tomorrow night’s UFC 216 event.

UFC lightweight Nik Lentz was set to take on Will Brooks this Saturday night as part of the UFC 216 fight card, but weigh-in complications have forced him to pull out.

Nik Lentz was looking to put himself back in the winning column after a unanimous decision loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 208. Will Brooks is coming off of a two fight losing streak, having just suffered a submission loss to Charles Oliveira.

Taking to twitter, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani reported the news of the recent fight cancellation.

“UFC has officially confirmed that Lentz is off due to weight cutting issues. Will Brooks fight canceled.”

UFC 216 is a pay-per-view event set to see Kevin Lee and Tony Ferguson face off for the interim lightweight title inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
