Replay! That Time Lyoto Machida Flying Stomped BJ Penn’s Face Into Oblivion

Lyoto Machida has put on an impressive career within the mixed martial arts world. “The Dragon” is a former UFC light heavyweight champion, with wins over some of the sport’s greatest competitors. Now the fighter is gearing up for his big return to the octagon against Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night 119.

Machida was initially set to take on Dan Henderson at UFC on FOX 19. However, the fight was cancelled as Machida was given a lengthy suspension after failing a drug test. Now returning from that suspension, the former champion is set to take on Derek Brunson in the main event of tomorrow night’s UFC Fight Night 119. The event goes down Oct. 28 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In anticipation for the exciting match up, here is a look back to one of Machida’s most stunning combat performances. Back in 2005, “The Dragon” faced off against BJ Penn under the K-1 banner. Winning by unanimous decision, Machida put on a war for the local crowd. During the fight, Machida dished out a head stomp that brutalized the face of his opponent.
