Report: Kevin Lee Still 19-Pounds Overweight For UFC 216 Title Fight

While there may nothing to be alarmed about, it would appear as if UFC 216 headliner Kevin Lee still has 19 pounds to cut before tomorrow’s early morning weigh-ins event.

According to Ariel Helwani, the fighter is still 174 pounds, as of the time of this report.

In UFC title fights, fighters are not granted a one-pound allowance. This means that in order to be eligible to fight for the strap on Saturday, Lee must weigh in no heavier than 155.00 pounds tomorrow morning.

That’s a tall order for any man, let a lone a lean lightweight nearly 20 pounds overweight with less than 24-hours to make the mark.

He confirmed with Ariel that the weight won’t be an issue, but it’s still something we will continue to monitor.

Helwani’s report came via his twitter:

“Kevin Lee says he currently weighs 174 pounds. He has no problem with that. He said he had tiramisu last night. (Might have been joking.)”

UFC 216 takes place this Saturday from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The night’s main card airs live on pay-per-view.

Kevin Lee is scheduled to headline the event in a five round fight for the UFC’s interim lightweight world title, against Tony Ferguson.
