UFC Officially Offers Edson Barboza A Fight Against Khabib Nurmagomedov . . . And He Accepts

It would appear that UFC officials have offered Edson Barboza a shot at Khabib Nurmagomedov.

UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov has not competed inside the octagon in some time. The fighter was set to take on Tony Ferguson for the interim title at UFC 209. However, “The Eagle” was rushed to the hospital for weight management issues. As a result the highly anticipated match up was cancelled.

Ferguson would go on to earn the interim lightweight title in a match against Kevin Lee at UFC 216, while Nurmagomedov has been recovering from his condition. With “The Eagle” seemingly returning to fighting shape and looking for a fight before the end of the year, the UFC has offered a talented fighter the change to end Nurmagomedov’s undefeated streak.

In the video posted above, Edson Barboza revealed that UFC officials offered him a fight with “The Eagle” for Dec. and he has agreed to take on the fighter whenever he is available. Barboza is riding a three fight winning streak, with a recent knockout victory over Beneil Dariush.
