“Alpha” Cat Zingano Issues Statement On The Dangers Of Cutting Weight

Tragedy struck the combat sports world over the weekend, as a teenage girl passed away following a weight cut gone wrong.

The teenager was cutting weight for an upcoming amateur Muay Thai competition. However, the woman is presumed to have died due to severe dehydration.

Now UFC bantamweight Cat Zingano has decided to take to Twitter to offer some insightful information on the reality of weight cutting.

“The water weight cut happens after the diet weight cut gets you down as low as possible.” UFC star Cat Zingano said on her social media. “We are contracted to a weight class for multiple fights. Every time we fight our bodies compensate to a higher weight in between as a stress and endocrine response. FYI @ufc”
