Bellator’s New WWE Heavyweight Throws Shade At CM Punk, Promises To Not Be Like Him

Phil Brooks, better known by his professional wrestling moniker CM Punk, decided to transition into the world of mixed martial arts last year. For the budding fighter’s big debut, Punk went toe-to-toe with Mickey Gall at UFC 203. Punk faced a brutal first round defeat, that has brought the fighter deep back into training with no word on his next match up. Now, it would appear that another WWE superstar is looking to make their way as a mixed martial artist.

It was recently revealed that Jack Hager, better known as Jack Swagger, has singed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA. Speaking on The MMA Hour, Swager revealed that he does not plan on following in CM Punk’s footsteps.

“I’m definitely not on that CM Punk schedule. I’d like to fight twice in 2018. We’ll probably have to do April or May to get that first one out of the way, and if I’m still standing, go to the next one. I’m not a freak show coming in to take some money, I’m here to compete and be a champion.”
