Cody Garbrandt Draws Inspiration From Mike Tyson After Losing The Belt, Here’s His Message

The heated rivalry between former Team Alpha Male teammates Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw finally came to a head at UFC 217 this past weekend. The bad blood between them had been boiling over for a very long time with their bantamweight title fight being one of the most anticipated fights on the card.

In round one Garbrandt looked very confident as he landed hard shots on Dillashaw while showing off some new dance moves in the octagon. T.J. was actually saved by the bell at the end of the round, but was able to compose himself and come back to earn a TKO finish in round two.

With so much on the line a lot of people might believe Cody Garbrandt might be down and out right now, but he’s actually done the opposite. While a lot of fighters might shy away from the media, “No Love” was actually front and center at the post fight press conference answering questions like a professional. He simply accepted the defeat and says he plans to learn and grow from it.

Taking to his Instagram later, Cody took some inspiration from something boxing legend Mike Tyson said.

“God lets everything happen for a reason. It’s all a learning process, and you have to go from one level to another.” – Mike Tyson
