“Mighty Mouse” Says He’ll Fight Dillashaw, But Not Next, And Not For The Belt

T.J. Dillashaw is now once again the UFC bantamweight champion. The fighter faced off against heated rival and former teammate Cody Garbandt at UFC 217. While Garbrandt nearly took the fighter out in the first round, Dillashaw earned a stoppage victory in the second. Now Dillashaw has his sights set on another UFC champion.

Dillashaw has called out Demetrious Johnson one time before, but “Mighty Mouse” turned the fighter down in favor of flyweight top contender Ray Borg.

The UFC flyweight champion would go on to face Borg at UFC 216 and take out the fighter with a dazzling submission finish. The victory put “Mighty Mouse” into the upper echelon of mixed martial artists, as the fighter broke the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses. Now, Johnson is considering a big fight with T.J. Dillashaw. However, it would appear that the fight may not be happening for some time.

Speaking at a recent Q&A, Demetrious Johnson revealed that he is interested in a super-fight will Dillashaw. But, the fighter is waiting for the “stars to align.” Beyond that, Johnson explained that he would be interested in fighting for a new belt that had not existed before rather than the flyweight or bantamweight title. Johnson compared it to the “money belt” that was on the line for McGregor vs. Mayweather.
