Poirier Talks Pettis Win: ‘I broke the man, before I broke the man’s rib’

Dustin Poirier and Anthony Pettis went to war inside the octagon for UFC Fight Night 120‘s main event. In the end, Poirier managed to earn a TKO victory over the former UFC lightweight champion. Pettis appeared to have injured his ribs while grappling with the fighter, leading to Poirier’s big victory. Now the night’s main event winner has come forward with some thoughts on the bloody battle.

Speaking in the post-fight press conference, Poirier explained that he believes he had broken his opponent.

“I think it was a broken man more than a broken rib. But that’s my thoughts, you know. Hopefully nothing is wrong with the guy. But I felt like the fight was slowly slipping away from him after the cut and after the takedowns, he realized I was strong and I was gonna stay on top. He couldn’t submit me.”
