Stipe Miocic Camp Confirms He’s Still In UFC Contract Dispute, Hopes To Return Next Year

By this time last year, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic had already fought three times inside the UFC’s octagon. But this year’s been much different.

Ever since he successfully defended his title against Alistair Overeem, only to learn that Overeem made more money than him, Stipe has been embattled in contract negotiations with the UFC.

Holding their UFC heavyweight world title hostage, Miocic has refused to return to action until he get what he feels he deserves.

With the UFC and Stipe’s contract dispute still in full-swing, Miocic’s camp recently provided an update stating things are starting to look up and he hopes to return to action in 2018.

Speaking to MMAFighting.com “unnamed sources” have provided the update.

Here’s an excerpt from their report:

Contract talks have finally restarted between Stipe Miocic’s camp and the promotion, MMA Fighting has learned. According to sources, the talks are trending in the right direction and there is optimism Miocic will return to action to defend his title in the first quarter of 2018.

Miocic hasn’t fought since his May win over Junior dos Santos at UFC 211. Over the past year Miocic, who typically shies away from drama, has been vocal about being unhappy with his current contract.
