“Thug” Rose Shows No Remorse, Says Joanna Is How Not To Be A UFC Champion

Fight fans were privileged with an exciting night of fights on Saturday, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted UFC 217 inside the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York. One fight that had the New York crowd on their feet was the strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and “Thug” Rose Namajunas.

Jedrzejczyk has put on a dominant performance in her mixed martial arts career. Prior to UFC 217, the fighter was undefeated with a 14 fight winning streak. However, the UFC strawweight champion was dethroned on Saturday night.

Rose Namajunas put on a dazzling display over her opponent, earning a finish over Jedrzejczyk within the first round. Following the performance, Namajunas sat down with the UFC on FOX crew to discuss the momentous match up. For Namajunas, she believes she has learned a lot from the now former champion.

She said:

“When I first stepped on the stage, I learned how to be a champion from her. This week, how she has handled herself, I feel like I’ve learned how to not be a champion.”

Completing her thoughts, the fighter explained that she is looking to make a change.

“I want to bring back the real honor and respect in martial arts.”
