After Today’s Bellator Fiasco, Two Respected UFC Vets Say The Money Has Changed Conor McGregor

Fight fans gathered around the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland today for Bellator 187. During the day of fights, SBG Ireland’s Charlie Ward put on a dominant display over John Redmond. The fighter earned a first round TKO victory over his opponent.

UFC superstar and teammate Conor McGregor was not in Ward’s corner today, but the fighter was cage side to cheer on his teammate. As soon as Ward earned his victory, chaos struck the cage.

“Notorious” leaped over the cage, slapped a commissioner in the face, had a minor confrontation with referee Marc Goddard and then congratulated his teammate on his recent win. The bizarre incident has since been getting reactions from fighters and fight fans across social media.

For UFC veterans Dan Hardy and Brad Pickett, McGregor’s recent $100 million payday from fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have changed the fighter.

Dan Hardy took to Twitter to state:

“It’s amazing how quickly money corrupts. Even someone who seems to have a strong mind will make a beast of themselves before long.”

Brad Pickett also offered a message over the social media platform.

“It’s crazy how money and fame can change people, even the strong minded can be altered.”
