On Eve Of UFC Return, Angela Magana Can’t Help Herself, Issues Fake Public Apology To Cris Cyborg

UFC strawweight Angela Magana and UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg’s bad blood boiled over at the 2017 UFC athlete summit. Magana had been harassing Cyborg over social media with trash-talking outbursts, with Cyborg retaliating with messages of her own. However, things got physical when the two fighters met face-to-face at the UFC fighter retreat.

Magana and Cyborg first entered a verbal altercation, before Cyborg struck Magana in the face. Magana seemed stunned by the strike, but fellow UFC fighters stepped in to subdue the altercation before more blows could be struck.

Police were called to the scene and Magana would later decide to press charges against Cyborg for assault. The fighter claimed that the UFC called police to the scene, not herself.

Now Magana has decided to open things up once again. Taking to Twitter, Magana has offered a trio of videos to her fight fans. In the videos, Magana makes an apology to Cris Cyborg before taking back her apology and laughing to the camera. The fighter then touched on her recent GoFundMe dedicated to helping those affected by hurricanes in Puerto Rico. For those that donated, the fighter offered a more sincere message.

Angela Magana has not competed inside the octagon since her submission loss to Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson back in 2015. That being said, the fighter is now set to make her big octagon return.

UFC 218 is set to go down Saturday night, Dec. 2, inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. In the night’s main event, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will be going toe-to-toe with Jose Aldo in a highly anticipated title fight rematch.

Holloway was initially set to face off against Frankie Edgar. However, Edgar has since been pulled from the event due to an injury. As a result, Aldo stepped up on short notice to accept another chance to win back the title.

Holloway first unified his interim title with a TKO finish over “Scarface” at UFC 212. Now the two featherweight warriors will have to battle it out for the Detroit crowd.

Also on the night’s card, Angela Magana will be making her long waited return in a fight against Amanda Cooper.

Cooper is 2-3 in her mixed martial arts career. Most recently, the fighter suffered a first round submission loss to Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 209. Now Cooper and Magana will each get a chance to get back inside the winning column as they face off at UFC 218.
