California Fines Team Alpha Male’s Benito Lopez For Pre-Fight Shove At UFC Fresno Weigh-Ins

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Fresno, Calif. at the moment, as the mixed martial arts promotion is preparing to host UFC Fight Night 123 inside the Save Mart Center for the Fresno crowd at Saturday, Dec. 9. While the UFC is getting ready to host an exciting night of fights, there was already a small scuffle at the weigh-ins on Friday. Now, it would appear that Benito Lopez will be receiving a fine for his scuffle with Albert Morales.

Team Alpha Male member Benito Lopez is undefeated in his mixed martial arts career, having most recently earned a split decision victory over Steven Peterson at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 7. Now the 8-0 mixed martial artist will be making his octagon debut on the main card of UFC Fight Night 123.

For his opponent, Lopez is set to face off against Albert Morales. Morales will be looking to get back inside the winning column, as the 7-2 fighter suffered a unanimous decision loss to Brett Johns at UFC Fight Night 113.

During Friday’s weigh-ins, the two fighters met face-to-face for an intense staredown. Morales barked in his opponent’s face and Lopez retaliated with a strong push that forced Morales back. As reported by MMA Fighting, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has since come forward to reveal that Lopez has been fined $1,000, or 10 percent of his fight purse, for the altercation.

The altercation can be seen in the video below:
