Dana White Confirms Conor McGregor’s Next Opponent As Tony Ferguson, Not Nate Diaz, Not Pacquiao, Not Mayweather

UFC president Dana White is in full media swing today, as he readies for this weekend’s year end UFC 219 event. As such, the UFC boss has confirmed Conor McGregor will fight Tony Ferguson next, should he choose to return to action.

Taking to the Undisputed show, Dana White stated,

“There’s only so many trips you can go on. There’s only so much stuff you can buy, before you get bored and you want to get back in the game. Right now I don’t really have a feel on what Conor wants to do. Conor’s rich. It’s the holidays. I’m sure his whole family had a great Christmas. And we’ll see what the New Year brings.

“He needs to defend that title. Nate’s isn’t even in the title picture… That’s one of those fights that shouldn’t have been made in the first place. But, it happened at that time. It was great, it was an amazing fight, people loved it. So somewhere down the line there’s a possibility for a trilogy. But right now he has to defend his title against Tony Ferguson. Tony Ferguson is the fight right now, if he wants to come back. “

Right now there is no timeline for Conor McGregor’s return. McGregor himself has said he will continue to fight, however we know he has a steep list of demands, including the first ever co-promotion with the UFC, in order to make his return come to fruition.

Here’s what Dana White had to say about the McGregor situation:
